Job Title: Mascot Performer Internship
Reports to: Director of Promotions/Community Relations
Company Description: The Joliet Slammers are a professional baseball team providing affordable, fun and family-friendly entertainment to the communities of Southwest Chicagoland. The Slammers are a member of the Frontier League of Professional Baseball’s West Division. Located in the heart of downtown Joliet, the Slammers play their home games at the 6,000 plus capacity Silver Cross Field. Founded in 2011, the team won the Eastern Division Championship and the Frontier League Championship in their inaugural season. The Slammers were also honored by Ballpark Digest with the 2011 Logo of the Year.
Internship Overview: Perform as the Joliet Slammers mascot for all home games and outside events, as well as assist with other promotions and community relations duties.
Essential Duties:
- Perform as mascot for all Joliet Slammers home games, including pre & post season, as well as all other community events
- Assist with ‘Spikes’ Super Students’ program
- Help coordinate and prepare for mascot appearances
- Maintain donations database
- Create and execute in-game performances and skits
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain mascot room, including upkeep of suit and props
- Answer phones as needed
- Distribute pocket schedules and other materials throughout the community as assigned
- Assist with tarp pulls, fireworks clean up, and other duties as they arise
Qualifications/Skills Needed:
- Currently enrolled in a college/university
- Ability to work in excessive heat
- Extremely outgoing & creative
- Ability to work long hours in a stressful (but fun!) environment
Dates of Internship: Starting immediately – running through the beginning of September
Hours: Off-season hours based on appearances – In-season will vary by homestand
Compensation: Performance fees & hourly fees to be discussed in interview
