AVON, OH – Both sides only had a few chances to get on the board, but the Lake Erie Crushers (42-59) would bring home the only run they needed to beat the Joliet Slammers (42-60) on Sunday with a 1-0 score to end the 2026 season.
It would take a while due to lockdown pitching on both sides, but the first run of the game would come from the Crushers in the bottom of the 6th inning. Joe Redfield and Jeron Williams would both hit singles, and a walk on Brayden Jobert would load the bases. There would be no scoring play for the next batter up, however, as a wild pitch would be enough for Redfield to come home. Lake Erie would begin this series finale in the lead at 1-0.
That would mark the only score of the game, allowing the Crushers to finish off the season with a victory alongside a series win with a 1-0 final.
Neither team made the playoffs this year, so there are no more games to look ahead to in 2026. Both Joliet and Lake Erie will instead look far into the future as they await the Summer 2027 season to begin in what will be the revamped National Association of Professional Baseball (NAPB).
